Why documents are split into chunks

This guide explains how glacom.AI reads your texts to answer customers and why it is essential that information is organized into small pieces.

How it works

Your assistant does not read the entire document every time it receives a question. To be fast and precise, it searches and "fishes" for only the most relevant text chunks.

Imagine you have a price list: if you write a single paragraph ten pages long with all the products, the assistant might get confused. If instead you create a specific chunk that says: "The basic maintenance service costs 50 euros per month and includes the annual check-up", the assistant will find exactly that piece and give an immediate and correct answer.

What you need to do

  1. Organize information into clear and concise paragraphs.
  2. Avoid bullet points that are too long: prefer complete sentences that explain the concept.
  3. Ensure every chunk is self-sufficient: whoever reads that single paragraph must understand what is being discussed without having to read the rest of the document.

Limits

  • The bot answers vaguely? → Your text chunks are probably too generic or too long.
  • The bot ignores a detail present in the PDF? → Check that the detail is contained in a clear paragraph and not hidden in a complex table.
